My Freak Fortress Bosses

    Ay, all. A while back, I started making Freak Fortress 2 bosses for my primary community, NecGaming. I got ever so slightly (by that I mean very intensely) annoyed due to the fact that the owner didn't even bother responding, despite the fact that I'm a senior admin on that community. After spamming a small monologue to a friend, they pointed me here. Speaking of monologues, I've rambled on too long with my reasoning on why I'm here.


    Boss #1:

    Name: Sir Crocket the First

    Description: A friend had wanted me to make a boss for them, so I did. This boss has yet to see the light of day, but it has been model tested and confirmed to work.

    Ability(ies): Super Jump, stun on rage. He also gets a rocket launcher with two rockets on rage.

    Other information: None at the moment. Can be supplied if someone asks for specific info.

    Boss #2:

    Name: Fancy Pyro

    Description: This was originally supposed to be a duo boss, but I gave up on that. Instead, I decided to do this.

    Ability(ies): Super jump, stun and Uber on rage. Slightly more health than most bosses, but also slower. 7 seconds of crits on kill. 50% chance to slow targets on hit. On rage, he gains a flamethrower with 75 ammo and a 50% decrease to airblast cost.

    Boss #3:

    Name: The Unfinished

    Description: I wanted to create a boss themed around being unfinished, so that's just what I did. Comes with a semi-custom model.

    Ability(ies): 50% faster melee swing rate, 30% higher jump, teleportation. On rage, he scares opponents, gains Uber, and obtains a revolver (3 shots, penetrates targets, headshots enemies). Slightly lower HP than most bosses.

    Other information: He comes with his own custom voice lines. There are also test videos I can provide, if needed.

    So just as a brief summary, I'd be more than glad if I were to see at least one of these added. Please let me know what you think.

    wow, that's some serious stuff right there o_O
    Ehm, i guess you should wait for the owner's respond "Benedevil" on this case.
    however, good job m8, this is actually pretty cool.

    here is a thing tho... the fancy pyro getting a slower movement speed is just a complete disadvantage when facing scouts, yes you can rage but as most of you know some hales don't like to rage *like me* and so it would be just unfair.
    maybe add 25% extra movement speed to the default pyro's movement speed when he rages instead of stunning players OR instead of getting ubered, since the uber is the vagineer's thing really.

    now for "The unfinished"
    i don't understand why would you need faster swing speed since you already kill players with one or two hits... other than being able to actually kill the demoknights when you "somehow" Miss hitting them.
    i like the revolver idea, maybe even an instant kill for each bullet. maybe even add a buff for each bullet that was successfully damaged a target (don't know what kind of buff tho)
    And a de-buff when missed.
    and again being ubered... it's just the vagineer's thing, soooo maybe just think of an other idea instead of being ubered... like maybe 80%~100% knockback and airblast resistance maybe?

    oh and i don't understand how would the teleportation work as well, care to explain c:?

    Last but not least, maybe give the Sir crocket the first when he rages a rocket launcher with 2 critical buffed rockets that does the same damage as the stock rocket launcher. or just an idea for a weapon really..

    Welp, i hope i made sense. and good job on these ideas, i really like them ;D

    The ironic thing is, you mentioned a 2 shot rocket for Sir Crocket on rage, and I completely forgot to say that that's exactly what he gets. I'll edit the post.

    Anyways, the thing with Fancy Pyro is the fact that he has more HP than most bosses. My goal was for him to be slower than most bosses, but have more health. Sorta like a tank. I also forgot to state that his primary weapon does give him a 15% speed boost. I also forgot to mention he gets a flamethrower on rage, so I'll add that when I edit.

    Finally, The Unfinished swings faster because it helps with his offensive power. Some people (like me) lag a bit or just generally have issues hitting with melee, so the increased swing speed would make enemies easier to hit. That, and it helps mow down hordes more quickly. Teleportation works the same as super jump; it charges and when you look up and release crouch or mouse2, it teleports you to a random player. Not sure if this community has teleporting bosses, though.

    after reading this, i laughed so hard XD that i woke up my parents. wow that's just too lucky really :b

    The fact that you said that "to make him sorta like a tank" isn't a really good idea :b cuz let's be realistic here. why would you need a tanky hale?
    Imagine this: you are tanky and slow, you already have less control over being able to move while getting knockback and airblast effects on you, so you would just not able to move at all *most of the time really*

    So here is a thing... i take back what i said about "the unfinished" getting a knockback and airblast resistance, give that to the fancy pyro... he will need it more than "the unfinished"
    now that i said that, i don't know if it has to be a permanent passive or just on rage, it doesn't matter now, we will think of that later when we actually decide what abilities are in which hale.

    Ok, it makes sense now to have faster swing speed. but maybe not a 50% tho, that's a bit too much.. even for laggy players.
    maybe around 25%~40%.
    about the teleportation, yes i know how does it work. but for some reason i just forgot that thing existed xD
    however, teleportation is the HHH's thing. so maybe think of something else, if you couldn't get any other ideas instead of teleportation then i guess it wouldn't be that big of a deal if it was still there.
    however you have to make the FF boss you are creating to be "Well suited" for his title and abilities, so that's why you have to try and think of anything that you may think is "Well suited" for him.
    what i'm trying to say is don't just give up on the teleportation idea :b

    Hello LordHotPocket,
    I'd love to add all of these FF2 bosses to our server and I appreciate all the effort you put into them, yet I do see some problems when looking at the CFGs.
    Big thing is that you don't follow the directory layout that FF2 suggests. It is unwise to have people directly put in materials in the materials folder and models in the models folder.

    The DemoPan for example has his models here: models/freak_fortress_2/demopan. Your Soldier models are located in /models, which is unwise since it might conflict with models already in the game.
    I'd suggest moving all models to models/freak_fortress_2/Sir_Crocket. Same with materials (materials/freak_fortress_2/Sir_Crocket) and sounds (sounds/freak_fortress_2).

    I would also not name the models spy, soldier etc. But rather name them correspondingly to their character: Crocket Soldier's model should be named: crocket_soldier_v1.mdl

    I have also noticed that you extracted the in-game soldier sounds and have packed them into the sounds folder so you could use them that way. This is unnecessary and only adds more download time. If you are using default vanilla sounds you can simply find the location of the sound in the vpk and use that path. No need to add the file again.

    Example:

    Once again thank you for all the effort put into these bosses and I will make sure to add all of them once the stated issues get corrected.

    So I've updated the CFGs.

    All that you'll need to do is rename the model files to the names stated in the CFGs. (the_unfinished, fancy_pyro, and crocket_solly)

    The only possible problem is that I used "/" in most of my CFGs instead of "\", which is what they originally used. If this is a problem, let me know and I'll CTRL+H to fix the issue.
